Lease On w/o Active MC

    Right, however his MC is not active yet, which was the jist of his question. I love the Sandpoint area, by the way, it's so beautiful there.

    If you are just running off the loadboard, you can get a permit from the broker to run under the carriers authority until you get your mc? There will be a permit fee. If youre thinking of leasing to a company, check with them about temp permits to run under their authority.

    I think you're talking about a trip lease (your user name fits LOL). I'm too new in the industry to have any experience with that, but I'm sure some others will chime in soon.

    Bet us a dollar you never get any experience with it. While it's still completely legal, since deregulation it has no practical use.

    True, its not the best paying way to go but I worked for an owner op for 8 years in the 90's who did just that. Did not get his own authority until 1998. During that time he purchased about 10 peterbuilts, mostly 379s so he was making money somewhere? Also went through two company bankruptcies during that first 7 years- Humboldt Express and Exide.
