I hear what you're saying and that's all well and good, but this is the "New Drivers Forum". The l/p options for new drivers aren't as such. They are designed [with low pay scale] to make them operate at/near 100% 25 days month, or risk missing payments or a decent payroll that month. They literally "keep them hungry". The last thing those mega carriers want is their l/p drivers working 8 hrs day/5 days a week, and being happy and financially stable.

Thats what you took from my post? That it was about miles?
Miles, Percentage, doesn't matter, when the person one is leasing from also controls the freight they haul, that person has complete control over ones life and livelihood.
How one is paid does not alter that fact. You can feed them just enough to cover what they owe you if you choose. That you may not do this does not negate that as a concern for anyone considering entering into a L/P agreement. -
I agree, I have just grown so used to people pushing the drug (miles) that I get a little on the defensive.
You are 100% right about the control issue. This why we show the rate sheets from the customers to us. We run a honest program. Our drivers are not forced dispatch, so when they commit to the load we expect them to perform. As far as starving them out, that is what OOIDA told me to do if they would not do what was needed. I would rather them just leave and go drive for another company. Sometimes people just don't have the right chemistry and should just part as honorable individuals. Key words here, honest, honorable. Most of that is lost in today's society. Well just because most of the rest of the world thinks its ok to lie, cheat, and steal does not mean that I and my company have to.KMac Thanks this.
