The one thing I haven't seen anyone mention is knowing your O/O CTR. If you're going to dispatch somebody then that is something you definitely should know. At least that's what you would think. The fact that most companies do not know this number is the main reason why I think self dispatching should be more prominent. Really you're saving yourself money by not having to have both a load planner and a dispatcher.really if you wanted to go even farther you could just let the O/O use load boards under your numbers. That right there eliminates both of those positions and staff that you would need to pay.

You want to control the truck, BUY the sonuvagun and hire yourself a driver you can run like an employee. You do not control MY truck. You do not dictate to ME. You are not MY boss.
Again. My truck, MY rules. It's that simple, really. That is the heart of being an Independent Contractor. I take the risks, I get the rewards. And the failures.
You obviously do not want independent contractors. You want employees. So go buy the equipment and hire yourself some drivers and take on all the risk AND all the rewards...or failures.D.Tibbitt and PoleCrusher Thank this. -
Why are you such a hardliner on this? Technically your right, technically he’s right. Why even lease onto some place if you are so hell bent on being the big boss? Wouldn't you want to run on your own authority completely?
You are correct it’s your truck and your domain so to speak, but he is correct he’s running a lot of risk by leasing you onto his authority and his insurance, running his freight. The fact is he does have power over you to a degree.
I feel like you have had some sort of bad experience to make you feel hostile in a sense about all of this?tommymonza Thanks this.
