Congrates..........Something to plan for, when you hit the 4&5 year the repair bills are going to jump! Driving new trucks with warrantee is one thing, now you "own it" . And even with extended warrantees they will ( probably ) run out before your paid off.

any advice for someone wanting to lease a prime I'm new to trucking and figured I would work for prime for 6 months and then become a lease to own operator I have a wife and to child to support so I'd like as much information as possible on it. I also have a little over $20,000 saved upfrom an old 410K at my previous employer that I would like to use to finance my business venture any information on average pay per week or month or any advice at all would be greatly appreciated Thanks

6 months isn't enough... it takes longer than that to figure this out. Advice? Start with post number 1 in this thread, and work your way through to post number 414... this one.
If you want some really good advice... put your 401K money back into investments, and don't touch it until you are very old. Work on the company side, forego the cable and fancy dinners out- put that money in the bank, and save that for your business start.kevinright2026, FLATBED and albert l Thank this. -
Hey guys, if you are lease purchasing at Prime, how much is an average balloon payment at the end when you're ready to buy your truck? And how long is the typical lease term?
-
Before any leasing to begin you first need to know the industy you are working for. Also you need to know what your personal fixed expenses and how long you can go w/o a paycheck without harming your families safety, such as rent/utlities/and other basic needs. I would wait for at least a year before you try to lease a truck. Most failures are due to bad personal finacing. Also, leasing a truck is a Business not a company truck. So when a Flat tire happens or your engine quits you are stuck with the truck you lease. My truck and fuel cost are about 2-2.5k per week before any profit can be seen. Even with that profit YOU MUST set asside at least 10-15% of that profit for your TAXES!!!
I Hope this helps on what is required to know before you lease a truck. -

So how much a week is a used truck lease payment then?
And I never hear about the used truck leases only the $900 a week new ones -
There's two sides to it... on a new truck lease, your maintenance to a very great extent is covered by the drive-train warranty, and engine manufacturer's warranty. Freightliner is very good about covering it; my perception of what happens on the Peterbilt side (especially) is not so much. On a used truck, there is no warranty (unless you buy directly from Pedigree- the outfit that sells our used trucks) so you are paying for all of the maintenance on your dime. That new-truck payment looks more attractive considering the lower maintenance costs, and you'd be well advised to know quite a bit about these machines before you jump into the deep end with one. It ain't no 4-wheeler.
Used or not, you will be required to complete a three-year lease first, and (I really hope) you've been paying attention to what folks have been saying here. -
Yes I combed through the hole thread I can see how some guys get over there heads thinking all they have to do is drive there a lease truck in the money just comes rolling in
Rontonio Thanks this.
