Stopped by Leasing today. Freightliner and International are the only options for LW tankers. Pluses and minuses of each?

how did you get ripped off?

  4. Once you get your authority. And MC# will you have to supply the Drug program? Or can you join Primes?

Your going to be under a 18_month new entrant period. With a new MC # / USDOT#
Where they will want your logs, maintenance program, drug program, employee files. Insurance papers and permits.I suggest keep accurate records of everything.

If you have any questions , I've been through the audit. Flying colors.

Given the choice between the two, I'd take the Prostar. They're roughly equivalent in performance levels, but the Prostar is far more comfortable and has greater living space.

I stopped by detail and they had one of each. I was way more impressed with the International...

Depends. If that Procrap has a MaxxForce engine in it, you're going to be in the shop a lot, and paying a lot of money out in repairs. The Cummins engine is more reliable, but it has problems too. Some of the cam shafts have a propensity to come apart after a few years... Cummins has not been very forthcoming about this, and if it happens once the engine is out of warranty you have a piece of junk that won't roll very far. The Cascadias are the most reliable trucks in the fleet, and both Freightliner and Detroit do the best job of standing behind their equipment in terms of warranty.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm not out here because I like living in a rolling closet. I'm out here for the dead presidents.

    Ironpony,
Can a Prime lease driver choose loads from common load boards or do you have to take all your loads from their dispatch? Thx, Bry

You are presented the best load available when your truck gets to the top of the dispatch queue. Fleet managers have some say in the process, but their paycheck is base plus a commission based on the success of everyone assigned to their dispatch board. You have the choice of either accepting or rejecting any load, but if you reject it you go back to the bottom of the queue.

It spreads things out a bit so that one guy can't sit at the top of the queue and cherry pick the loads. You can also ask your FM to send you in a particular direction or location, but that doesn't always yield the best paying load.
