Yes and no. You can lease on to whomever you choose and SFI approves. But if you’re leased on to Schneider, you can only run off their board.
It's 2 different entities. SFI is a leasing company (think Quality and Celedon). Schneider is a trucking company that owns SFI, (again, think Quality and Celedon).
Get it?
You can lease a truck from SFI (the bank) and take it wherever you like (and they approve). Lots of SFI trucks at Landstar and Mercer.

Yep.

You're insurance and overhead aren't included in that 1500 number then.
-
And how do they seem to be doing? Making it work?
-
I have absolutely no idea at all. You would have to ask them.
I think @RStewart took his to Mercer. -
I only did a 1 year lease on mine and I turned it in and bought an very well used truck from SFI. That's the truck I took to Mercer. Ran it for a year and a half and bought the T660 I have now and I brought this truck to Landstar. Lol.
I do have a friend here at Landstar with an SFI truck and he does just fine for him. I'm not sure what that is but he's making it work.Vic Firth, Dave_in_AZ and Opus Thank this. -
Typically, the breakdown is something like $1000 to the note and everything else is insurance (mine was $135 a week) and maintenance savings account. It depends if it's a truck with a remaining warranty (so more goes to the note and less goes to the maintenance account). When I got my first truck, it was used and so less went to the note and more went to the maintenance account. Thats how I was able to buy it out after 2 years. I paid cash for all my maintenance and let the maintenance account build up......sorta like a savings account with no interest. But, at any rate, they tried to keep people in the $1,300 a week payment range all in, (when I did it......it's probably more now).

In 2015 I got a brand new Freightliner from SFI. I put $1000 down (just a deposit really) and the payments were $900 a week. $105 of that went to a maintenance account. All other truck expenses were charged on the weekly settlement above and beyond the $900 a week lease payment.
Vic Firth Thanks this. -
Warranties are included in the sale price. Schneider has a 4 year note plus balloon, so I'm certain they pick the 4 year / 500K miles.
Insurance on a new truck at Landstarve I'll bet is upward $500 month. They base it on value.
BT another $130 month. Plus plates and permits $2400 year.
You can get your own plates though. Not sure if you'd save much.
Everyone has to carry workman's comp on themselves.....another $130 month.Vic Firth Thanks this. -
This thread just reminded me I forgot to turn in my windshield.
We get 2 free a year.
Thank youVic Firth Thanks this.
