I know this is an old thread, but I believe what MOST of the people are talking about, when it comes to experience, is ACTUAL driving experience. So many people think that driving an 80,000lb truck is easy. It is just as easy as driving a car...Most rookies do not understand the nuances and stress that can be involved in the RESPONSIBILITY of operating a tractor trailer.

How do you recover a truck that starts to slide on ice...
How do you know what gear you should be in to climb that hill in front of you...
What do you do when someone cuts you off...
How hot are your tires getting driving across that desert when its 104 degrees...
Did you cool your tires properly before parking on that snow or ice...

There are so many things that you don't get from books. Business smarts is great to have. Will definitely help. But actual driving experience is key to knowing HOW to drive and not just be one of the many steering wheel holders out there now. No, its not rocket science, but a TRUE driver has SKILL earned by years of experience.

I have been driving for about 23 years, and still learn new things all the time. Good luck out there, and most of all BE SAFE.

I've made a career out of making trucking rather simple:
    1. Pick the freight up
    2. Drive to my destination
    3. Deliver the freight
    4. Repeat.
I agree with you Old School there is a lot to learn along the way. It's usually when a driver says " I've done it all" is when that driver is the most dangerous.
Running with AMMF is a lot like running your own numbers, just keep out of the office politics and you'll do great here.

    Be safe
