Nah, no they haven't. When you get your packet with the DVD, they'll have the prices listed. With van you get 65%, but no trailer fee, and I think you get 72% if you bring your own. With flatbed you get 72% I think, and you pay a trailer fee ($155 per week?), and it increases as you get more specialized.
I have never done flatbed, but they have a securement course that I will pursue, so that I can learn how to flatbed and get a little more of the %, eventually working my way up to specialized.
Gentlemen, it is no secret that specialized is where it will be in the future. Our country will eventually go "all out" with those big fans in the midwest for electricity, and then we got to bring all of the equipment back from the middle east when those wars are over, so I hope to be in the middle of all of this when it goes down.

they are required to continue making parts available for ten years... granted the price may go up?

That said, as with any manufacturer, soon you will be able to bolt cheap mis-fitting chinese clone parts onto your kitty... some of which have already been available forever...

    primer pump: $179 or $37 :biggrin_25525:

though, of course, you must take into account the moral implications of your purchase. Feed a starving chinaman in a sweatshop or keep an american working (slowly) in a factory while he wonders how long it will be until it is all moved over-seas to appease stockholders and provide for higher ceo salaries leaving him un-able to make his minimum monthly payments on his (average) $40,000 dollars of credit card debt.

    RAG Thanks this.

...The $40,000 of credit that the credit card companies borrowed from the Federal Reserve who borrowed the money from the Chinese since the federal government is trillions of dollars in debt. :biggrin_2553:But at least the toys, etc. coming from china into the port of Los Angeles are keep the west coast drivers busy...

You might look into a glider. There was a sponsor on here a while back. Fitzgerald Trucks out of Tennessee. They had FL, Petes with non emission engines and a warranty for decent price. Just another option.

I have been leased to Landstar for 20+ yrs. I can't complain to much, although they have gone down hill since they changed ceo's. You can earn a good living, you just need to know where & where not to go.Just don't pull cheap freight, you have to know your cost per mile to operate if you want to make it in this business. They will help you in orientation. Do what the others were saying: put your app in first, look for your truck and make sure your approved first like stated before. You don't need those trk pymts without the job. I will give you a heads up, its changed since I started. You will be requried as a new hire to put OBER (electronic logs) in your trk. It will take them awhile to aprove you & when they do, it will take them awhile to get you a trailer. When you purchase a used trk there are a few things that will help you down the road, you don't won't to be out money on your truck for awhile when you get started. Look for these goodies when Buying a truck: low miles ( most trade in before 500,000) recent engine overhaul or new rods & mains, new brakes, good rubber or new. The more goodies you work in your deal (that is if your going to finance the better off you are. Try to have some money put back to carry you & your bills untill you get up on your feet. Hope this doesn't discourage you, but wouldn't want anybody walking in blind folded. Hope this helps you in your new found adventure. Good luck, Maddog.

PS: stay ontop of your app with Landstar, dont always wait for them to call you. You may be waiting awhile, stay on them & let them know your serious. You need to start making money a.s.a.p. if your going to pull there trailer stay ontop of that too......... Remember, you need to get moving soon! You haveto also consider when you buy yout truck do you want a trailer too. Make sure what year truck & trailer is required now. I pull Landstars trailer because I do 90% drop & hook makes it nice if I wan t to keep moving, especially if its a wk end. You have to decide what works best for you. Later, Maddog.
