    the breakdown is $200 per truck, per week for factor... times 4 weeks, $800 per month per truck...

    Ok, so my $3200 is off. It's really $1600.

    200X4x2 = $1600.

    As lucar pointed out, why are you paying for duplicate and even triplicate services? Dispatch, ITS AND DAT. Pick one and run with it.

    As I stated in another thread.

    Because it won't ALWAYS be a 2-dog show... neither will it be (now or EVER), an instant Werner with 1200 trucks... The basic premise is to establish a solid foundation, THEN grow... my son already has a very successful I.T. company... he started doing my "back office," so to speak, as a favor to me... then decided he wanted to expand and be an actual M/C, not just in name only... Our plans for slow and responsible growth really weren't the topic... I was challenged on the numbers as being, somehow, unreasonable for an M/C to "rip off" an O/O by only giving 90% of the linehaul... I suppose we could give the O/O's 125% and call it fair, based on some of the responses... but, seriously... you'd think a group that is constantly expected to work for nothing would be the LAST on the planet to advocate someone else do the same.

    "Dispatch" is a real live person in the office manning the loadboards and fax/email, completing carrier setup pkgs, rate cons, etc... it doesn't make sense to get rid of loadboards OR dispatcher... they kind of go hand-in-hand...

    Then make the dispatcher pay for his tools. Which do you want? Is he actually YOUR employee?

    Yeah, you are sharing your numbers and all, but there has to be a realistic point to staying in business.

    And you can't handle that in your 2 truck operation with all the technology available today of smartphones, laptops, tablets etc....????

    Yes, the dispatcher is an employee.... Again, the point being, that once my boy can get off of the "Factor Crack," he'll be turning a decent profit (basically a little less than the Factor is making now)... Until that point, I fully believe the 90% linehaul, when you consider it's a FULL service dispatch and safety program business model, is pretty darned fair... Part of the process is 3 paid for Annual D.O.T. inspections at Petro/TA's, once per quarter mid-trips at the same, DDL S/W paid for by the M/C, NO admin fees, NO quarterly IFTA prep fees, etc... my chief heartburn is anyone who thinks we are being greedy here...

    never said you were being greedy....

    Foolish in some of your expenses yes, but not greedy.

    DAT 360 Express would work just fine for you. $99. Saves you $300. ITS would suit you just as well. $105. Cut back to just the one, that's a huge savings there alone. Now you can keep the rest and still show in the black.

    That I think is where you are not seeing the rest of us coming from.

    I believe it was YOU who objected to us not paying the cargo and liability after giving the O/O 90%; I think, even if we trimmed a load board, THAT is still unrealistic.. $1,040 per month is considerably more than $300... also, we DO get some better freight from 3Sixty, just not as much saturation as ITS in some markets... truly, DAT is my preference, ITS is the backup... we just finished signing on a truck and their first dispatch on Monday is $2.40 p/mile coming out of Florida... THAT's why we use 3Sixty.. those rates are impossible to find on ITS (dry van), in FL on any kind of a regular basis... clearly, once we have 5 trucks running, that $300 will be easier to swallow... BUT! Establishing and maintaining a reputation and record of quality dispatch is a higher priority at this point than trimming a few bucks... we can absorb a few hundred a month whilst we look to the future...

    My statement....

    Wish you success in what you want to do. Hope it doesn't bleed you dry.
