When I arrived back from breaking down with my first instructor I went to Stan..his words "I am taking you off this truck. I know ****, I worked at another company with him, he is loud, obnoxious and he talks to much, no one should be treated like you have been, it is not you..it's him"..
I followed him out to the training pad and met my Instructor within 3 minutes, Stan and I were talking and he approached Stan to ask a question..then when he finished he looked at me and said, "are you an instructor"? I said, no..I am a student looking for an instructor, so that started a wonderful experience where I trifecta'd...
I scored 1 point off on my pre-trip, I scored 0 points off on my backing and 6 points off on my road test..The gentleman who was a Vietnam Vet I met while my original Instructor was taking a weekend off with his wife and new child, He told me he wanted to train me when I was done, I had no idea that my Fleet manager would throw a fit or the continuity that there was between instructing and training, when I learned, I said...no problem
I went to my trainer and we had very few issues, I finished with him
you know who introduced me to the lease guy U2?..my freaking RECRUITER, and I had the best..I didnt want to lease, BAD time to start a lease, everyone said so, IP did when I talked by phone..she said, he is a wonderful lease operator, his drivers love him, he is great..check him out..HOW AM I TO KNOW THIS IS OR ISNT ALLOWED, MY TRAINER DID THE SAME THING AS ME, NEVER PAID HIS MONEY...so why wouldnt I think could..I was sitting next to proof that I could, if you cant take the time to read what I wrote, why bother to even repond...you dont see anything, you defend
i like this company but I am not a schill either, not a yes man
never switched trainers, never..I stayed on and ran teams while this situation played out, guess what..I ran teams on a lease operators truck with the FM who was pissed I was gonna leave his board..hypocritical..I WAS RUNNING MILES ON A TRUCK OF A LEASE OPERATOR WHO WASNT DRIVING THE TRUCK..HE OWNED 3 TRUCKS, so I was staying on this board to do what I couldnt leave to do on another board..
our original plan was to work a year to pay back the $ and try and get a regional job if need be, local preferred. I was stuck in a slow period, running teams on a truck that hustled I made $720 one week, highest check I made running teams a month and a half, we always made our 90's on time, always called in and never complained..not once
So at the end of 2011 I heard tanker made good money, I thought, ok, tanker endorsement, easy, take my time, get HAZMAT on home time and eventually get a local job home after finishing my year hauling HAZMAT tanker, good money..
if they didnt screw around with me I would be driving for them now, I would be finishing my year..I was fortunate enough to get a job
I will be training and driving HAZMAT tanker, all local 5 day or night work week. I was hired..you know why U2?
I have a 31 year work history, 1 job..I have no tickets, no arrests EVER, no DWI or DUI ever, I am a boring working stiff who will work his ##### off given the chance
My instructor wanted me to come back to reefer and drive for him, he didnt want me to go tanker, my FM who I argued with called me back, he now runs Pittston..I dont even know why I am answering you..I felt terrible leaving a company I truly believed in, they let me down
NONE of this I brought on myself, I drove and drove well, I learned everything taught me, on a few instances I had to correct trainers for things they misunderstood, I was right, Im not a fool...whatever

feel free to message me U2 if you are having trouble following anything I wrote, I wasnt treated right, I WAS jerked around...tell me the rules and I will follow, they changed almost daily it seemed...i never wanted to mention my recruiters name, I told her i would never mention it was her...maybe I should delete the post, who knows..I'll give you my phone number and you can try to follow the BS I went through...or dont

i hear what you are saying, AGAIN i am sharing how all of these things were misleading to me, when i spoke with my recruiter she assured me that i would get a regional position with prime and that they indeed have those.... I later found/finding out that prime is an OTR company which was something that if i knew before hand, i wouldnt have signed up for, i was under the impression from what i was told, that during training i would travel everywhere, after training i would get a regional run....
the preventable accident i admit, that i should be held responsible and very much so wouldnt mind paying for myself, had i known i would have to pay for the tow out of pocket i wouldve walked back to the flying j and ask a driver to pull me out of there, because how i was in, my chains wouldnt have helped...not this time;....THE chains, load locks, etc. those are things that i werent aware of at all or the cost of them.
the issue with the lightweight trucks, i was told that i could get the condo because of the fact that i would have someone else come out with me and because of my size and the amount of things that i have.... my truck even with me being as organized as i am, just feels cramming and uncomfortable... i understand that i am not FORCED to do anything, AGAIN i am explaining how these things that arent told or explained upfront are misleading.
i have been back out OTR with prime since january 7th, i am just getting home today 02/18. my request was to be home on the 02/10, a request that was in 2 weeks prior...when i say they dont honor, i mean, they will get you there on their time. i asked for 4 days and was told that TECHNICALLY until you upgrade to an A-seat driver that you're really not supposed to get any hometime, so i should be grateful! THATS B.S.
it boils down to, I am the one living out on the road, turning usually 600miles/day for a month and a half at a time...as a driver, i am the one who needs to be comfortable out there. i am still sticking it out hoping that this is just the start that it'll all work out sooner or later, i do feel obligated because now i owe them so much money.
i just feel like im basically working to pay them back for all the crap they charge for, for their trucks. its ridiculous to charge me to equip a company truck. it may be posted on here all day and night, PRIME didnt prepare me for this.... im going to try to be optimistic about the situations but im not going to be out there BROKE...

So if you were dispatched on your first load on the 7th of January, you would have been eligeble to take 4 days by 2/4.
My FM requires a 10 day notice, but I usually give him more. If you want a good hometime relationship you cant put him in a 4 day box unless its for something important. If its an event I want to be home for I say "hey I need to be home on X day for Y event, Y is important so x day is the latest I can get home." 90 percent of my hometime request are "hey, Im looking to go home on the X, im taking 4 days, early or late is fine."
I work hard to be on time for him, and he works hard to be on time for me.
PM me if you would like some help. I wouldnt mind calling your FM and finding out just what his problem is on hometime policy...

well getn2it im sorry to hear that hope everything works for you basically you have to do whats best for you living in tx the only regional runs i know of are in flatbed...best of luck to you

@U2 i am not going to quit, i am here for the experience, the money is important but i won't let that be the main factor in my decision making on my behalf. i really like prime and i beleive that things will work out, now that i am home and thought about things....the experience will be worth it. i'll at least stay long enough to pay prime for what i owe them and if i decide to go to another company where i can be home more i.2. Schnider thaen at least i will walk into it with more experience and the freedom of knowing that i wont owe anyone anything. i am like the next man, i want to make money out here, get myself out of some personal debt and live comfortably, this too shall pass...those days where i see the nice 1000 check are yet to come, i understand that it wont happen overnight. leasing has been on my mind for awhile, if i decide to lease i will lease with prime. thanks guys i just wanted/needed some insight and guidence.

How is it Primes fault that you got stuck in the mud at a truck stop. Something is missing here could it have been driver error?
-
If you lease it could really be a big mistake
-
Things change daily depending on who you talk with also... Next Monday all new company drivers must be neutered to match their castrated lightweight truck...
garciamag Thanks this.
