Yes, but the rookie might not get it there on time. The rookie might crash into something and cost the company much more $$$ than a late load. A rookie might just decide that trucking is not for him and simply walk away. Even bottom feeders like Swift appreciate their long term and experienced drivers, even though they are earning more than the rookies. If that were not so, they would be trying much harder to force them out in favor of the cheaper workforce. With 3+ years with Swift I might not be considered long term, however I am longer term than many. In no way do I feel that I am not needed or wanted simply because I make a few cpm more. Other drivers with many more years than me feel the same way. If a company is simply looking at the short term cost, they are not worth working for.

Good post. I was in a similar situation when Swift took the chance on me and for that I am loyal and grateful. Good to hear you turned a bad situation around and you are in a better place for it.
