So, get this; I have these United Pacific headlights that I bought - [IMG]
They look good, what with the LEDs along the bottom, but the headlights themselves are horrendous. I really want the JW Speaker, but can't afford them at the moment, so I started looking for some alternatives. I looked on Amazon for the 9006 LED conversions and found several that would work, but, as usual, I was hesitant about dropping the money on something that A) I have to wait on and B) may not work.

Well, the missus and I were out hitting garage sales and what should I come across but two sets of LED conversions. One is a 9006 and the other is a 9012, which, with very slight modification, will fit a 9006 application. Got them both for $65, so I picked them up, thinking that, if they don't work for me, I can resell them. Last night, I tried them out, just on one side, so I could see how they compared to the halogens. HOLY SMOKES! I CAN SEE! The difference was amazing.

So, today, my goal is to modify my enclosures on the back of the fender since, for some reason, Kenworth gives you as little clearance as possible to fit the standard 4X6 sealed beam (and even those are tight, wiring-wise. I had already cut holes, but I need to do a better job. I'm thinking, if I can make it work, some kind of PVC setup with a threaded cap. Once done, I'll get them adjusted so they don't blind others (unlike so many of these clowns today that seem to love to burn the retinas of everyone they encounter at night) and give them a try. It actually makes me excited to go to work... kinda.

    I'll let you know.

I haven't seen an actual set of fog lights on a truck in years. Fog lights are amber.
I also agree that headlights properly adjusted would cure 80% of the retina burning problem.

Color has NOTHING to do with whether or not it's a fog light. The lens flutes are where that distinction is made. Yellow is just an alternative color than diminishes the light output a bit.

"Good (and legal) fog lamps may produce white or Selective Yellow light—it is the beam pattern, not the light colour, that defines a fog lamp"

After reading that article which is in fact a good one I would have to say that color actually does have something to do with it.
I will have to say that my firm belif that true fog lights are amber is an incorrect line of thought.
In addition to that I'm glad that it basically cemented the fact that they are pretty much useless 99% of the time.
I say that because of the times that I've had them on trucks and used them they've not made a bit of difference for me. This is I'm sure even in dense fog due improper adjustment, with the exception of the two trucks that had amber.

Thank you for posting that article.
