So I left my wallet/cdl at a truck stop 200 miles back the other way. I was half asleep trying to rest up for driving tonight and in my haze I left it on the counter. I called they do have it.
My codriver woke me up to drive he has no hours left.
How serious is it driving without the hard copy? I have the hours to go back and get it.

from what I understand..driving without your CDL in your possession is a pretty serious deal.

200 miles is no biggie. On the very rare chance you get pulled over simply tell the office the truth and offer to let him follow you there.
Unless you are an a-hole to the officer I would be surprised you got more than a ticket. I'd actually be surprised if you got that much....TravR1 Thanks this. -
I can handle a ticket. I just dont want to go to jail.

Watch out for Roscoe P Coletrane... and Enus.
It always cracked me up that that guy's name was Enus. How appropriate.
It's a shame no one will ever see that show ever ever ever again. Simply because of how the car was painted.

If you know the driver's license number it's not as serious as people make it out. I had temporarily misplaced mine after picking up a military load and having to flash it at the gate. Later that day Mississippi coup pulls me in for a paperwork check. I freak out when I open my wallet to give it to him and it's not there.
I explained the situation to him, looked in the truck for a second, couldn't find it and gave up. I went back inside, told him I couldn't find it, just have left it at the gate. I gave him the number and he ran it no problem. He was even nice enough to print me out the screen they see when they run it to show the next officer if I get stopped before I get home. No ticket.
I walked out to my truck, and there is my cdl staring me in the face. I had slipped it in the visor and somehow over looked it in my search because I was panicking. I took it back in to him so he knew I had it. Thanked him, and drove away.Opus, Blackshack46, smirkyboy and 6 others Thank this. -
Thanks you guys, again. I got a copy of my cdl and medcard faxed to me. I'm headed back to pick it up.

I have 2 wallets.
One is my personal wallet with my driver/cdl and credit cards that travels from my semi to my personal vehicle but never leaves either once it is there.
When I need a bank or credit card I take it out but my wallet stays in the vehicle.
In my semi I have another wallet with a copy of my liscence/passport/Twic card and Dot medical and my Fleet card and various Rewards cards that never ever leaves the truck.
And now eyeglasses are following this same agenda.CaptainDaveG, Trucking in Tennessee, Chinatown and 4 others Thank this.
