One of the other drivers I work with left his license at home. He made it through the day uneventful and just made sure he had it the next day. Just don't attract the attention of law enforcement. It's not like they have a no wallet detector.

On my way back I saw a Swift truck in a ditch. It was a 35 mph off ramp and it looked like he didn't bother to slow down for it. There were cops all around it.
bryan21384 and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -

I'd have just gone and gotten it. Good idea to get a copy faxed.
-
I wouldn't have driven 200 miles to get it. Much more cost effective to have them FedEx it to you overnight. Even Saturday priority delivery costs less than driving that 400 mile round trip. Heck, even hiring an uber driver to bring it to you would cost less than driving the truck to get it.

$10 and they can overnight it to another loves down the road.
kurbski, tommymonza and dunchues Thank this. -
Many years ago,way before 9/11, I was making a delivery at Ft. Dix. Back then when you entered, they would take your drivers license at the guard house, give it back to you when you left. That's fine till I left there one day, drove 10,15 miles down the road, went to put my license away, luckily I looked at it,they had given me some one else's license. Always check!

I am assuming every state will sell you a "copy" of your licence. I know Louisiana will. I lost mine & went to the DMV & they sold me a copy for $15.
Maybe be something you want to consider to keep in the truck or someplace for a spare. -
