There's a reason why England stands for "Every New Guy Leaves After Ninety Days".

Can he borrow your delorean to go back in time? Cuz I know I don't have one but time travel seems to be within the realm of possibilities with you, unless you are just playing the what if game. I want to play too. What if grasshoppers had machine guns............ We'd all be screwed!

Since you don't have a time machine best thing to do is find a good job and pay back the loan so your credit doesn't get screwed. Unless you don't care about your credit and you are willing to bet they won't take you to court.

If you let us know where you are at Chinatown will probably give you a list of good companies in your hiring area that will hire you.

Absolutely agree. Just because the decision turned out badly, you're still bound to fulfill your financial obligation. If more people were financially responsible, we'd be living in a much different world today. Good luck to you.

I wonder what would happen if they mark your DAC with theft of services or something like that. On one hand, you will have lots of trouble getting hired by a lot of companies for a long time. On the other hand, some employers will consider that it's CRE and knowing what the company is like, they'll overlook it. I personally think the first thing will happen and many wont hire you. Yea, England is the bottom of the bottom feeder companies, but you did sign a contract, and many will think if you can't honor your obligations and make it for one year, what chance do they have of you staying with them. You signed the contract. Nobody forced you into it. There's tons of threads here and on the other forums that clearly warn wannabes of what to expect. You failed to do your due diligence and research, or you just ignored it. Either way, you are responsible for your actions, nobody else.
Personally, I wouldn't hire you based on that. You should call them back, plead temporary insanity, and fulfill your contract. It will suck, but you'll be better off in the end. I know in my case and many others also, when I wanted to break into trucking back in the 70's, I was willing to drive whatever piece of crap truck I could get hired to drive just to get started, and I did. I drove a garbage 1970 international cabover with no radio or a/c or air ride seat or anything else, with a 238 Detroit oil belcher from Lancaster, Pa. to New York City 5 nights a week hauling fresh chicken on ice, usually 5 stops or more, always including at least two stops at Hunts Point Market for $42.50 per trip, and I loved it. I really have no sympathy for someone who can't even last one year in an air ride condo sleeper with all the options to get some experience. Sorry to be so blunt, but maybe some of you need to hear this stuff. I'm not saying what I did was anything special. Ask any senior driver what they did to get started back then, and you'll hear pretty much the same thing. That's my 36 years of experience speaking here, for what it's worth.
By the way, when I was starting out, the senior drivers used to talk about how they got their starts in chain drive Macks and such. I still remember one driver telling me when he was going up hill, the truck was so slow that he could set the throttle lock, and stand on the running board to take a leak if he wanted, and I believed it, and still do.
One more thing. I have two sons that are truckers too. My oldest is 35 years old, and has 14 years experience and a clean record. He pulls for LandStar. My youngest son is 26 years old. He drives for D.L. Landis driving a 379 Pete in the northeast hauling floor loads of Dart container to some of those rat hole places around the north east states. He also unloads them himself. He also has a clean record, with 5 years experience. And no, I didn't teach either one of them to drive. They found their own training, and are better drivers for having done it themselves, no handouts.

People would be well advised to listen to your experience. It's invaluable.

Now that would have been something to see...
I have done a hot seat switch in my old VW bus going over Tioga pass but we were young and reckless and all that goes with being young and reckless.

Have to agree about people talking and complaining more than just doing...I think part of the problem is the Self Help book mentality and the fact that few people buck bales, push a broom or wash dishes as a kid anymore. Lets start a poll to see who had an actual paper route that didn't include mom or dad driving the car.
I better stop before I start yelling at kids to get off my lawn...love the image of the driver not using a bottle...days gone by.

LOL I remember the paper route, especially those Sunday papers. I had like 80 customers, and I could only fit 5 papers in the bike rack at a time cause they were so thick. Man, was I ever tired after that.
