Do you think college was free in the 70's? My mom started college in 71 on a academic scholarship, that she lost in December of that year because she got married.

So she worked a full time job and went to school, while dad worked two. Only reason for younger generations to have it tougher is lack of work ethic.

My oldest daughter spent a few years after high school thinking she "deserved", even though her whole childhood she knew we worked for what we earn.

Took her a few tough years to realize you don't deserve anything you didn't earn, and things not earned aren't appreciated.

She'll graduate next spring with her masters, but at 26 instead of 22.

Do you think college cost the same, inflation adjusted and all, as it did in the 70s? Please with that ########.

There's also a reason I called student loans a trap and course work ethic is important. Nobody is arguing that.

In 1980, in state tuition/room/board/books was less than $4,000 a year. Minimum wage was $3/hr.

In 2006 college costs $15,000 a year. Minimum wage was $5.15.

In 1980 a person could work a minimum wage job full time in the summer and 10 hours a week during the school year and graduate without student loans.

Average undergraduate tuition and fees and room and board rates charged for full-time students in degree-granting institutions, by type and control of institution: 1964-65 through 2006-07

Take work ethic out of the equation - take the same 18 year old person and put them in a similar starting position in 1980 and today. The 1980 version will outperform the 2023 version 80% of the time, in my opinion. Not because they worked harder, or smarter, or had better morals - it was just easier.

Please note I said "easier", not easy.

When your own government protects the criminals and destroys the country, you should have bigger worries than one arrogant guy in his 40's driving the middle lane for 200 miles.

it's easier now if you know, it was easier then without needing to know. if you don't know now it's way easier to find out than it was then

I was a 70's kid and was raised by a father that fought in WW2 and did 25 years in the military. I had it easy as could be compared to his childhood no doubt. With that said my kid was born in the late 90's and she had it way better than me. Now she has kids and I can see they have it much easier than she had. I guess it all depends on what you see as hard.

Well this thread is completely off the rails.
    I will say again

If you are being passed on the right , you are doing something wrong.

No need to consider politics when driving through a city , just keep in mind this one rule when choosing your spot in traffic
