Well today he drove an old vw bug with an autostick and a worn out 1600. I had him drive me to visit some friends and to pick up my cousin (who just so happend to loose his left leg in guess what a car accident) my cousin purposely had issue with his prosthetic leg so he went without and the kid was asked to help him hop out to the car and into the back seat.
We then had him drive us to my friends place (he has been paralyzed from the waist down since he was 17 again from a car accident)
Then we went to see my other friend that was driving the car that paralyzed Jim. The look on his face as we told him to turn into the cemetery told me we hit home! He looked more somber and serious than I have seen him yet as he helped my cousin hop over to the gave to say a prayer for our long lost friend.

If my constant reminders of the costs of stupidity and honest straightforward showing of the results don’t get him grounded nothing will.

His mother isn’t too bright in my opinion and has made some foolish mistakes but at least she is attempting something. When I asked about why such a car she claimed it has good safety features and she wanted the most safety features she could get in whatever she purchased.
I have found out that although she is very ditzy she does care and confided in me about other issues. I genuinely feel for her and promised to do my best at humbling him a bit!

Frankly I don't care if that communist state falls of the continent. However I am very aware of their laws as I have broken them on many occasions and been caught once. Having said that I do not go there. FYI I don't understand why anyone goes/lives there but hey different strokes for different folks.

A lot of us stay in California because we can't wait to see what happens next. Also, if enough people refuse to come here and enough people move out things might settle down a little. Or not, doesn't really matter to me. The less unhappy people here the better.
I live in the upper left hand corner of the state. Things are different here. No better necessarily, but different.

You know, while the mother may have good intentions, she's a bit misguided in her thinking in my opinion.
As a parent, naturally you want to protect your kids. But wrapping them in bubble wrap and shielding them from the reality of life, isn't doing them any favors.

I've witnessed this happen with a family at our church. The parents kept the kids on a very short leash, not allowing them to experience life. No social media, the girls were to wear skirts down to their knees and long sleeve shirts all the time, limited TV, no dating unless the other half came from a respected church going family, and the list goes on. And you know what happened when those kids went off to college? Culture shock to the highest degree. One girl completely shut down and dropped out. The other one went wild and abandoned religion altogether, got her degree and She's happily married, very pretty and full of life. The one who dropped out married someone from the church and last time I saw her she looked like she was 40 something years old even though she's 26. Just looks tired and unhappy.

I say all that to say this: you cannot shield your kids from everything all the time, or you will end up hurting them. Giving a kid a new BMW because it's safer, I would argue is dumb. Give them a ####### and let them hit a deer with it. They'll learn that stupid hurts. Let them stick their fingers in the toaster once. Bet they'll never do it again.
My parents always told me, if you get into trouble, you get yourself out of trouble. We ain't helping clean up the mess. It has served me and my brothers well. And we're doing the same with our kids.

Only time I believe the far left lane is the right one to be in driving a large vehicle is in a US or State highway situation going though a town, where there are two lanes of traffic in each direction and a center turn lane dividing them. Being in the right lane is not a good idea because of all the cars pulling in and out of driveways and through-traffic should stay left. On a controlled access highway, generally not unless you are actually passing somebody and are not forbidden by signage. Right lane, or center on a 3 lane. Sometimes the far right lane is also a bad idea on a busy controlled access highway because of on-ramp traffic and exit-only situations. I-95 in CT comes to mind.

You know society has blinded so many and they live in eternal fear of what if! This thought she had of safety I believe clouded her judgment and prevented her fro buying a more reasonable first car for him. If you watch her drive you can clearly see she is on edge the entire time. You know the type that sits up on the wheel with that look of stress from the moment the car moves till it comes to a complete stop at thier destination

Always this same ####### argument that always gets brought up, that should be #### common sense.

Got to give credit for bringing up as left lane argument. It's usually the center lane argument that never freakin ends.

Common sense, folks. And, reason for all the signs everywhere that say "stay right except for passing" & "slower traffic stay right".

Never could understand the argument all this time, except for pure lazyness.

But, from a pure steering wheel holder viewpoint that has never really been "learned" to drive.... guess I can potentially see.

Very little tolerance for laziness out here.

Anyone whom makes anyone pass on the right, including cars, is a danger on the road.

My opinion & I'm sticking to it.

Best to all, regardless of all your wrong opinions........ LOL✌
