Not busting your chops as probably most of us have been in situations where it isn't possible to give a full 2 week notice, but it could be the fact that you didn't give a full 2 weeks like you said in your original post.

    The Challenger Thanks this.

I am in agreement with Voyager. Next time you are employed, please give a two to three week notice. Give the company time to train that person to take your place. I wish you the best of luck in your next company.

I gave Schneider a bit over two weeks, basically staying out until my next scheduled hometime. Left on good terms.

Yes, I have left a trucking company "on the fly", as it were. Not proud of it, but I did it. Did not abandon the unit, however.

I feel for you GS, I left my previous company for reasons that we both understood and have spent the last 9 months here in PA while my wife attends a nursing program. I went out on a limb and contacted them and was told I could come back, what a relief. Maybe you can find something else you'd be comfortable with other than SNI and make a good future for yourself elsewhere, but I know it's tough.

My previous company isn't the most respected company out there, but I dang sure liked it there, and some may say that SNI is no great loss if you can't go back but I totally understand where you're coming from. I would try to get to the bottom of the no re hire though, you never know if there would be some way to get your foot back in the door.

Maybe it has more to do with the amount of preventable accidents you stated.

no i think it was the way i left not the preventables. never said i abandoned the unit either. been trying to get the dm on the phone for a while now.
with the local job secured i called and told him i was done out side the court house on long island.
after sitting in pa for 2 days, then going to long island for the 2nd time on my dime for an equipment violation ticket would irritate any one.

I drove southern regional for a bit. Personally, I wouldn't suggest it. Others may have had a different experience, but they had some difficulty getting me over 2000 miles. That means the paychecks weren't quite as big as otr. One time a new dbl sent me to New Hampshire in an effort to get my miles up. I didn't mind the increase in pay, but after running around the east for awhile I was like, "Hey! Please send me back to the south where I belong!"

Top that off with them having some difficulty living up to the "home every week" idea. Now, I'm not complaining about it, but I just want you to understand that the advertised "weekly home-time" doesn't actually mean that you will be home every week unless you live near the terminal, lol. And, if you are home every week, don't expect a big paycheck. That's just the way it is.

It's enough of a difference that I'm going to head back to otr instead this time.

Don't get the idea that I'm bashing Schneider. I'm not. I know this post looks like a whiny complaint, but it's actually just my way of saying that "regional" ain't all it's advertised as being. At least, it wasn't for me. Somebody else may have a different perspective.

Left a team dedicated account in Topeka for a 'regional' position out of the same Home Depot distribution center. Miles went from 2500+/wk to between 1200 and 1600/wk. Now driving locally with another comapny getting paid hourly.
I quit teaming because of problems with team partner. My choice entirely, however I didnt feel like my safety was less important than Schneider's desire to keep teams together no matter what. At least on that account. In essence, either you have a good working relationship with your DBL and are willing to run whats available, or you can suffer with small paychecks and bad attitudes from office personnel. This was my experience, others have had different outcomes, and more power to them. Drive safely everyone.

My husband is on the 6/3 schedule. He just started with SNI in the Northeast region last month. He is still adjusting, but seems happy with them. Its his first driving job out of school so we both feel lucky he landed with a good company to get some experience.

Like the OP, his main goal is to get experience and then move on to local or dedicated driving, down the road.

Glad to see so many happy with SNI though!
