I can not argue cause I cant say for sure, but according to a DOT that did an inspection on me at a scale house once, scolded me & had me to remove the straps from the outside of the rail & put them through the rail. He said it is to protect securement in the event that your side swiped. My understanding is, according to him, it is a violation.

As for tarp straps. I do not have any knowledge either way.

I used 45 of those 21" ones. hook to the inside of the track and to the cut outs on my lowboy.
Even got the some pulling foward and back.

Exactly....I can't remember where I read it but it said something like "at no time will bungees or tarp straps be used as securement devices."

Uh huh....Well being that you used 45 of them I'm assuming you did the math on the WLL? LOL! :yes2557:

I had a driver two years ago in Houston get a load securement ticket for 4x4s being strapped on the deck with bungee cords, he said if it don't have a load rating (will) it's not a load securing device.

If 4x4's are load securement tools

and bungee cords are load securement tools

then you don't need WLL to secure them.

Otherwise you would need an adequate WLL to secure your bungee cords.

Tell the cop yer bungees are 10lbs/bungee and you can prove it !

If he asks how, tell him to lie down on the trailer and secure him with one bungee/10 lbs. If he can't get loose that proves it !
