Matters on what sentencing is. If you are on probation you wont be able to leave the state.

The charge does not disqualify you from obtaining a CDL. That is why it was not an issue at the school. Some trucking companies would hire you with that charge. TMC just has higher standards than that.

They vary. No rhyme or reason. Some even go by the date you are released from prison, which makes no sense. What if one guy got 5 years and one got probation? Many take it case by case if they have influence with their insurance carrier. Just have to ask.

Do what you have to do to get this warrant resolved. After that, you can hit the road and have several companies to choose from.
PI&I Motor Express hires ex-cons and others with criminal records, but also, there's several others. Keep us posted so we know when you're ready to roll.
PI&I Motor Express has a program with prisons where you can attend cdl school while in prison or immediately upon release, and they'll hire you. Don't worry, plenty of jobs for you.
    PI&I Motor Express photo's.

But wouldn't having an active warrant disqualify you from even being able to obtain a CDL? Doesn't the DMV check that out also or are they just handing out licenses? I just dont get that part

The DMV is just handing out licenses. Your issue effects you getting a job not getting the CDL. DMV could care less if you get a job or not.

Im really surprised you even have an operators license having an Active FTA on you? Most states suspend you if you dont show for court? Mine does. Seems the school would have picked up on that if that is the case? I guess stuff happens? Once you get a cdl, your driving record goes into a national system.

Yea I thought the school would've been the first to pick up on it. Thats why I was kinda under the impression that maybe they did find out, but let it slide between the cracks just to get my $. Maybe if I had just went directly to a carrier school where they pay the training and I had signed one of those 1yr contracts, I wouldve found out immediately. But since I wanted to go the route of paying my own school to have the freedom of picking who I wanted to work for, it ended up backfiring on me. I'm now 10k in the hole with my first payment due next month with no job. But since theirs no way for me to prove tge school had prior knowledge of the warrant, I guess Ill just have to bite the bullet. Hopefully this thread might help other drivers looking to get into the industry.
