Sure did take the truck driver a looooong time to even react and start slowing down.
Swedish Chef, Bud A., Flat Earth Trucker and 6 others Thank this. -
You can see the culprit weaving in his lane twice before the moment of impact. Distracted much??
rachi, dunchues, Canadianhauler21 and 4 others Thank this. -
I can't believe I'm in the same industry with some of these people.
No matter what I do right, no matter how safe or courteous I drive this is what people see. That's a fairly new fleet Cascadia, did it not have any collision avoidance technology? It might have been a smaller crash but I don't think it would have totally saved it from happening. Can we start revoking CDL's permanently? Especially when there is video evidence of ones stupidity. The traffic had slowed down in front of him well within his vision.rachi, UsualSuspect, ACO476 and 6 others Thank this. -
and this is why, the push for autonomous trucks coming soon.
lovesthedrive and TheLoadOut Thank this. -
I believe we still might see stuff like this even with the autonomous trucks.alds, shroomhauler, D.Tibbitt and 8 others Thank this.

As much as I hate the collision avoidance crap(the potential of it slamming on the brakes in slick conditions), it definitely could have helped in this instance. Maybe a solution would be the ability to turn it off in slick road conditions?
alds, D.Tibbitt and TheLoadOut Thank this. -
When you look at Google Maps of the YUBA CITY, CA address for the Bobby Samara profiles and Legend Transport, it is worth noting a CDL school right around the corner. Coincidence?
Google MapsBud A., 650cat425 and TheLoadOut Thank this. -
This one will be going to prison....won't need the CDL any more.
These guys use a system that they can edit themselves. Once they get past the scale at Dunnigan, they can and do just run the trip from Kent to L.A. in one shot. 1200 miles no break, then they brag about it over the counter at the T/A and Petro in Ontario.
No coincidence....it's their school, then they 3rd party test and avoid the DMV.. Generally, they are out with a "trainer" for one or two trips Portland to Sac and back.InTooDeep, Sirscrapntruckalot, Bud A. and 3 others Thank this.
