Leonard's Express gamble

Did a short hop. Deadhead from Ankeny, IA, picked up in Lenox, IA, delivered in Gaylord, MN. But then, picked up at the same customer in Gaylord and delivered in Canby, OR. Then picked up in Hood River, OR and delivered in Swedesboro, NJ.

 

Swedesboro, NJ to Eagan, MN. Gaylord, MN to Plant City, FL and will take a few days at home.

 

Update Time:

I'm a driver for a small owner-op that has his three trucks leased on to Leonard's Express. It's been just the owner-op and me for the last 8 months or so. One truck is sitting.

I'm paid ALL Hub miles by the owner-op. There's that level of trust between us. He knows I do the best I can to route efficiently. So all miles: coming out of the house empty, loaded, and going home empty or loaded are paid. Fortunately a lot of loads pick up or deliver close to home or in route if heading to south Florida. So if there's too much time on them I just go home for some bonus time.

We're coordinated/dispatched by a former small fleet owner who deals only with the owner operators side. He's excellent. He thinks like us.

We started in November last year and here's how I've ran for these almost eleven months.

L1) Bobtailed from Auburndale, FL to Atkins, VA and picked up a brand new trailer. 721 miles bobtail. Hauled the new trailer to the main terminal in Farmington, NY and started orientation. 632 miles. (1,353 total). 11/8-11/10.

Orientation was 3 days and another day for the shop to finish repairs to the truck that Leonard's Express deemed necessary per their standards.
