It's not, if you're a safe driver anyway.

I did a short stint of pulling tanker (4) mo. And I loved it. Was just filling in with that when my other work was slow, but I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

Unloading a refrigerated load as long as it's no touch

Don't know anyone who had to unload themselves unless they wanted to make a few bucks. Have a couple of driver who make an extra 450-500 week for a few hours work.

    Oxbow and austinmike Thank this.

I did that when I pulled reefers. Tax-free money also.

    austinmike Thanks this.

I guess those guys who didn't want to hire a lumper tried to do it themselves. As far as driver unload obligation, never came across that.

Tanker is dangerous if you drive distracted and using your smartphone and reaching into the sleeper and waiting until last second to change lanes and speeding and taking every corner too fast. If you drive like you want to go home alive at the end of the day it's nice.

    YOU HAVE TO DRIVE DIFFERENTLY.

    Another vote for tanker.....

I drove a box for 7 months with two different carriers, got my first tanker job, and never drove a box again.

I haven't slid a set of trailer tandems since 1994 at truck school.

Yes, there's gonna be two-hose drops through a snowbank, and access at some customers is a pain in the butt, but the shippers and receivers are generally glad to see you, and treat you nicely.
