They are certainly recruiting heavy in this area (Tampa/Lakeland), every day they have ads on Craig's List and I have seen a few in the local paper so... Usually a company that is recruiting so often has way too many issues that cause all those trucks to be empty....

I also think LinkAmerica is a pretty good place for a driving career. There's companies getting better and companies getting worse. Link is 1 of em getting better. They have new owners since last year who are in it for a while, getting us new trucks. I'm in line, im not senior enough. New safety standards. A pain in my butt, but does make a lot of things a lot easier. Their hiring. And theyll tell you. they're not perfect but they do try pretty darn hard to get it right

Lessors is far and away the worst company I have ever worked for. Avoid them at all costs.

Nobody is accountable for screwed-up hometime (my last three were all four or more days late) or low miles. If you get below 9,250 miles per month for two months in a row, you're considered part time and lose your insurance, pay raises, and vacation pay. You then have to get above 9,250 for two consecutive months to get back to full time. They will make absolutely certain you NEVER do it. Dispatchers know low production isn't necessarily the driver's fault, but they're the ONLY people around there who understand that. In November I was ten miles short of the minimum, and I took a week of paid vacation in December...that vacation put me below the threshold for December, and I remained "part-time" up until I quit last week. According to the recruiter/retention moron in Dover, they are switching to an assigned dispatcher system sometime next month, but frankly I don't buy it. This is, after all, the same guy who asserts that a driver who stays out three months at a time is lazy and doesn't want to run.

Sounds like a real winning company. Never heard of a part time OTR driver. Anyway thank god I'm not looking for a job there seem to be no good companies left.
