Going to orientation in Dover on the 29th. Looking forward to making money again. If you're single, don't have kids, and can count all your bills on one hand, the company I've been driving for is a great place to work. If making enough to get by isn't good enough for you, you will be miserable.

What is the detention policy? Where I am now you don't get a dime until layover pay kicks in, which doesn't happen until after 48 hours.

Depends on the load. I think it's over 3 hrs.

I had a stellar year being back, not including the time I was with GTI at the beginning of the year. Always stayed busy, and looking at my last paystub, plus I have one more coming before the end of the year, I'd say I made a good choice coming back. Year in review coming shortly, lol. There's money to be made, and I made quite a bit. My next raise will be in March, and on track to do a lot better in 2015 than I did this year, with GTI being very far in the mirror ( which, incidentally they are because they can't keep up with me....). Here's to another great profitable year in 2015

After a couple of weeks of thinking about it and weighing my options, I have decided to stay the course and not change jobs at this time. Several reasons why. First of all, like the saying goes, the devil you know is always better than the one you don't know. Secondly, despite the low miles as of late, the upsides to hauling tankers far outnumber the downsides, and certainly outnumber the upsides of reefer and dry van, the only other two types of trailers I'm willing to haul. Juice season is about to get fired up and go into high gear, so hopefully my mileage woes will be short lived. Thirdly, the positive reviews of this company are far outnumbered by the bad, and taking a chance on a company with mostly negative reviews is no longer a kind of chance I'm willing to take at this point in my career. Some may say "well the reviews of your current company are also mostly negative" and they would be correct. But again, even when your own experiences are different from most, the devil you know is still better than the devil you don't know. To boot, Lessors only quoted me one cent per mile more than what I'm getting now, and I found out I would be required to meet or exceed a monthly mileage quota of 9250 miles, which the recruiter conveniently failed to mention in our phone conversations. The fact that I had to find that out through this forum rather than through my recruiter is a major red flag all by itself. Had they said 48 cents a mile or something like that, perhaps I would have decided differently. But with all other things considered, this is neither the right time for a change, nor would this be the right change to make even if it were the right time. Best to luck to anyone who will be going over there soon. I have a feeling you're gonna need all the luck you can get. Godspeed to all and happy new year.

It's not for everyone. But it's done good for me. And remember, recruiters never tell you the whole story. That's why we have TTR. But I hold to the facts. Great equipment, a ton of miles and the ability to make a good living here.

The fact that each terminal has their own little ways of doing things and the fact that I don't recall reading a single positive review from any driver domiciled in Dover....that certainly didn't make them look any better.

Dover has changed for the better long ago. those were old reviews.
