If you are speaking on buying Qualcomm you don't have to its mounted in the truck already. Yes companies have co pilot or another loaded on the Qualcomm but beware your best tool is an trucking atlas find the money to get one. It's a must have for trip planning, restricted roads etc.

I have Co-Pilot on my phone. Cost me $150. Not only does it know which routes are truck routes, all non truck routes are marked, and it has live traffic reports. I use google earth to find truck entrances to places I haven't been. I have an atlas and use it when I need it. Right now it's sitting on a shelf and has dust on it. I'm pretty sure that speaks for itself.

I use to work w Heyl Truck Line out of Zephyrhills, FL. Lessors is a better company If you work hard 10 hrs rest, 9 driving 10 rest, around the clock. If you can't drive overnight don't bother to come to work here, but if you really know how to work hard, I guess you understand what I mean by that you'll make money but if you like to complain about 11$$ detention pay, wear away your DM with small things you won't get loads, plain and simple. I am making 1200, 1300 a week, but I hassle myself if you get a load get it, and shut up. You may last here if you have a lot of common sense.

You hit multiple nails right on the head. In what ways is Heyl different from Lessors?

Heyl Truck Lines is a good company, the reason that left was because of the cameras in the truck, besides that is a good company, you won't run all 48 just SE, SOUTH, MW, NW, plus Canada. Sometimes you will end up running a lot of short runs in the midwest, to many headaches going to Canada not enough pay for that, plus they micromanage too much. Leesors is an old school trucking company they won't micromanage that much, but as I said before if you are not proactive you are not going to make enough money, and you will end up frustated. Heyl will hire you w 6 months, you'll need at least a year to work w Lessors.

I'm a Dover driver and have been at Lessors since September 2015, I was just curious about Heyl since I see them a lot in the northwest. A company I'm much more curious about is Holland and how they compare to Lessors. I've heard good and bad and I've heard Holland has a few similarities but nothing specific. So far Lessors has been great, no one calls me or sends Qualcomm messages unless something is wrong or they have a question, both of which are rarities. I like to run west and they know this and have never had any trouble accommodating that. I don't remember the last time I came back to work after hometime and picked up a juice load that went somewhere other than the northwest.

A friend from way back in school drives for Heyl out of that terminal. He's been driving oh, 30 years or so. Not sure how long he has been at Heyl, at least 5 I believe. He likes staying close to home. Rodney Miller is his name.
