You can see by the comments that many drivers are so beat down that they have given up and expect their situation to only get worse. We need to become a reliable voting block and get the same protections as the rest of the workforce. No overtime pay, not reimbursement for meals and incidentals, no detention pay, no, no, no! The ones who let this happen are the 20-30 drivers that you see out on the road. They gave it away without a whimper.

Don't yall know that there are websites that you can go on and bid for a load. All we really need is someone with the talent to and someone with the equipment to get it started. I'm sure with a little imagination, a company can be built that will have the drivers best interest in mind. You would have to form a company name and taxpayer ID to get on the site.

I think it's all a part of a much larger problem that covers more then trucking. Ask most people in retail what they think of their jobs and customers. Or or good deal of customer service people in any industry.

Sometimes it seems like no matter what job you have you're stuck between people in management and the customers who are stupid egomaniacs.

They are many egomaniacs in the work place, but that is because they often have no experience in the world where it is survival of the fittest. I have seen managers get their #####* royally kicked by someone who worked for them and just got fed up with the managers crap. I remember we were loading a truck and the manager was giving one guy crap as usual. This manager was always on this guy. Finally home boy just hauled off and knocked him on his #####*. I couldn't stand this manager because of the way he acted, but he never gave me crap. To be honest I just laughed and I didn't lift a finger to help him. The way I feel is if he is going to be an "A" hole the least he could do is be able to defend himself and win a fight.

I would say 24 hours with no trucks moving would get everyones attention, but it ain't gonna happen. The mega companies rule the road and the price of freight.
