This is been talked about the same thing over and over but nobody actually comes up with a solution. The drivers hold the power but are too scared to use it the only thing is a nationwide truck strike in less than a week they'll change their tune and treat us like we should be treated.

As long as cheap foreign labour is willing to do the job I don't believe that anything will change

    Haven't you heard?

Trump is going to make America great again.

He's who truckers are waiting for to turn things around.

    ...Pff. As if.

I think some of the turnover would be reduced if companies would buy, and manufacturers would build, trucks with some real creature comforts. It would be easy to redesign sleepers so they had a real fridge, 2 burner stove top with ventfan, and a sink with hot/cold water. In solo trucks, orient the bed along one wall, put the goodies on the other wall. Drivers would be more comfy, and could eat healthier too. That would help some to keep OTR guys from going local.

I'm sure you have, but if I was a company owner, I'd be looking at why 73 calls only netted 26 applications? Maybe rework the ad so some of the 47 failed calls don't happen. How many of the 26 were decent quality applicants. I bet from a company perspective it's like needles in a haystack. Going from 73 phone calls to a couple hires. Then have 1/2 of them quit in 3 months or less anyway. Be like beating your head against the wall. I don't envy recruiters. Or....trust them either. Lol

Companies get many applications a day and many would get approved by their insurance companies.I would say if a company can't find the drivers it's their own fault for turning them away due to their policies.I don't know if pay is such a factor comlnsidering how many on here are looking or just starting a company.I see the same companies advertising on Craig's list looking for drivers and some I have applied to but they found another driver.then a couple weeks later if that the same company is back on Craig's list.If companies would give many drivers a chance they wouldn't have so many empty trks at the terminal and would be pleasantly surprised how well that driver does.far as turnover, companies and drivers don't work together so driver quits.

Drivers are the cause of low pay .....not the company..if a low pay company...had no drivers apply....company wages go up...it's called supply and demand

No disrespect but for christ sakes why would anyone in their right mind live on the road in a truck for. 38/mi or whatever rediculous low pay. No retirement and crap insurance coverage. What a waste of time and your health. If your going to drive a truck make the most cash an hour you can.
