I'm not sure to whom this was directed to..But if it was me......
Your preaching things anybody in business already knows...
Are you kiddin'? These carriers have the money to pay quality wages but choose not to because they can, And its been going on far too long.
As an owner myself...I know all that is involved in operations, logistics, sales, maintenance and so on.....
Think about it a second..If the reputable carriers can pay premium wages..Why can't the other 90% do the same??
Believe me sir...The owners/officers of these large irregular route mega's and semi-mega carriers are getting away with what they can.....they are Not hurting on the upper echelon side of business
like I say in my other posting...A quality driver that puts in their Time and effort...Should Not have to work for 36k per year with low budget benefits
Let's talk about the 'driver shortage'.

What do you, as a company owner consider a quality wage? What is a really fair wage, and do you yourself pay it. One thing that runs drivers off from a company is lip service. Many carriers talk a good talk about how much they respect and honor their drivers. And it doesn't take a genius to see its all baloney. I once talked to a lady who said she worked for a carrier in NW Iowa. She said they paid their drivers .72 cpm as a company driver. I didn't really believe her, so I didn't follow through. She claimed any well run carrier could afford to pay that. And I've never heard that carrier mentioned by any drivers. So I imagine that was bunk as well. But can a well run carrier pay anything close to that for a good driver. If so, it would be nice if they did.

MrEd.....
I'll answer that question real good and thorough.
First off, Do you follow inflations, Quality of Life, and economics?? I'm guessing no.
Now, to your question..
A FAIR over the road drivers compensation for an experienced, safe, clean and organized employed driver should start out no less then $60k per year PLUS achievable benefits in a seniority style advancement. (example: vacations accrue with time, pay raises, etc)
a good pension or 401k with fair contributions, A good healthcare plan with low or no deductables ..
MrEd.......You puzzle us, How do you expect a person to raise a family, Live well, and achieve the American dreams we all want on a subpar $36k salary working 6 days a week, away from home with no future in sight. Explain that 1 to me Mr Ed.
I'll be awaiting anybody's next utterance -
Without drivers, they don't have a job ! .... Problem is: they keep getting unsuspecting victims
It's pretty disgusting, really because the
Drivers have all the high cards but not enough American spirit to stand up for themselves and call them to the carpet over this issue
Until that day comes, we will have under paid nervous Nellys, driving death machines on our highways every day
.... Not a shortage of drivers more so a shortage of warm bodies to suck life out ofbzinger Thanks this. -
Supply and demand ..park em ! ...a couple weeks ago when I was home I called in for dispatch to hear the rate had gone down 400 bucks and I said tell the shipper I'll be rite here at home drinking beer till the rate goes back up ..2 days later it did .
Dharok and Toomanybikes Thank this.
