Pffft ... the highest penalty I've paid has been a whole whopping $54 ...
-
You're lucky, MysticHZ. I've been paying a much larger penalty for some time. And I'm not done yet. I wish mine was yours; mine had several more digits than yours because my estimate was off too much and for too long.

what would be a good company to look into for a l/p???
-
Can't answer that ... what works for one may not work for the other ... Like I stated earlier ... build your business model, do your due diligence and find the company fits your needs ... I did research on about 14 companies, narrowed it down to 3, then 2, then 1.88 Alpha Thanks this.

Good answer. Knowing your own needs and limitations will drive your own decision making.

Heck even when I was making almost as much in stock options and IPOs as I was in salary, the IRS never bothered me, as long as I paid the penalty every year ... sounds to me like your trusted experts aren't so trusted or so expert.Ukumfe Thanks this.

They weren't.

It is possible to be successful in a l/p plan. I am 2 years into my 4 year plan and doing o.k.
The thing I tell folks is they have to set themselves up to succeed.
As has been pointed out you need to be solid on your accounting/ p&l/ business plan.
You need to keep your costs in line.
You need to plan for a realistic miles per month or week that allows for the home time you need. And also pay truck expenses.
Then you need to find a carrier that can get you efficient miles and get you home when you need to be there.DenaliDad Thanks this. -
We don't even know what kind of freight you want to pull.
