I too was afraid of the l/p idea after talking to drivers but I noticed the failures all had the same problem, understanding its a business. When I asked how much the break even was they never knew. When I asked about net they said I made like 8k and after I paid fuel I got to take home like 2k. I asked about other payments like taxes or savings for a few unexpected days down and they all looked dumbfounded. Point is I treat my truck like a business and I do pretty well. Iclear enough to pay everything I need and will own my truck out right at the end of the lease with no lump payment. As for my main suggestion look for a variable lease not a standard lease. A variable is good when you have home time or breakdown.

Is that a lease with a constant, smaller weekly payment plus a mileage charge? That would make hometime easier, for sure, and is what I would pick.

Yes you would have a small set amount then a per mile for the remaining. Mine is 120 a week plus .20 per mile.

It really does depend on where you live and what kind of freight you will haul. I implore you to steer away from the mega carriers. It's a trap.Steerswithears Thanks this. -
