That is the same specs as a 171702 borg, If they sold one with a 1.45 or 1.58 turbine housing that might work pretty decent for a mechanical, the compressor housing could be swapped with a 177148 to keep the cat style cover as well.

[QUOTE="I spent 5 solid hours crossing central to west central Ks today in 95 to 100 degree heat and a stiff and steady crosswind. Boost between 26 and 29 psi 80 or 90% of that time. Only break being going through a half dozen little towns. All this at the end of a 600 mi 10.5 hour load that started in Ar. Fan locked , and watching gauges like a hawk just to maintain 65 to 70mph at 90k.[/QUOTE]

Is that one of them feeder calf loads where you’re told to head west and don’t stop til you get a call on where you’re dropping them off at lol

The boost would get up around 33 or 34 psi on a pull most the time 28 to 30 psi....the highest I saw the EGT get was a touch over 1000 ..once or twice.it might of got to 1025 .. for a few seconds . most the time it was hanging right around 900.. I only ran 6 loads from Greeley Co. to Omaha Ne. not any real hard pulls just some wind..... 76 and across 80

Reason I ask is that there are a lot of Chinese knock offs for Borgs running all over.

The pictured engine would have a factory Garrett as it is a cat test engine, it would take 1300* in manifold sustained to get a housing that red unless the cast is inferior.

I have never been crazy about the 1.32 housing.

I think a 78 in a 1.45 exhaust housing does as good as anything on a 15.2 motor and up as far as compression. I have run an 80 in a 1.45 on 14.5 motors with 3425 nozzles or 8785’s. (I run new but most recognize the reman number easier) I have also put an 82 in a 1.45 on my truck. It done ok but EGT would get to 850 or so and it wasn’t as strong as the 80.

The 177148 would go to 900 with the gate working. Pinch the gate off and it would come down a 100 or so. That said I don’t believe in pinching the gate off. It’s there for a purpose.....

Mine won’t break 750 unless your pulling tunnel hill on 49 in the heat of the day at 90k or better. It won’t stay with a built electronic motor either. That said I don’t ever get daylighted. They may build steam faster but on the long hard pulls I do gain on 90 percent of the E models I run with. They are mostly stock with maybe mild file changes and the 0000 turbos.

Yearling steers. I know what you are talking about, but no, I run this same trip once or twice a week. They are good healthy backgrounded cattle off the farm. But when it is much over 80 degrees out you best keep rolling especially in the daytime.
