I own a 48 foot flatbed and I'm thinking about buying a 53 foot dry van. Then getting my authority and letting o/o run under my name. I know this is doable because all the majors do it just on a much larger scale. I would pay for the load boards and let them search for their own loads and run how they want. Trailer maint. should be that expensive as i can pretty much fix anything. I am thinking about a 80/20 split. Let me know what you guys think

If you're gonna switch from a flatbed to a box, go reefer. Gives you more options.

You're charging too much for what you're offering.

I'm leased to a guy that charges me 12% for dispatch, Running under his authority and tax filings.
You want to take 20% just to run under your authority and self dispatch?

20% would be the max and that would be pulling my trailer. If someone had their own i would take 10%. Do you pay your own ins.?

Yeah...I pay for my own insurance and the trailer is mine as well.

20% is not out of line if he's pulling your trailer, For some reason I was under the impression that you were going to sell the trailer to the leaser.
