A cracked wheel is 2 points plus 2 more if Oos. So 4 x 3 for weight and that is 12 points. A long way from 50. Am I right or am I wrong. If I'm correct then a lightbulb out is worse than a cracked wheel. Other than being OOS. Just like DUI is less points than missing your 30 min break. I was corrected earlier in this thread about the time for companies and for drivers. Learn something new everyday.

I just looked at that thread and I don't understand where those numbers are coming from and it's not an official list and does not match actual tickets vs points that I've seen including the one the driving that started this thread.
According to the link, this driver should've only got 8 points.
Maybe you can find the official link to compare it for us? -
Here is a link from the CSA
Page 78 starts the listing of the many items for points.
There are many pages.
http://csa.fmcsa.dot.gov/Documents/SMSMethodology.pdfFlightline Thanks this. -
Also keep in mind, they triple these point numbers then reduce the 33% each year, if I told correctly.
Also what is the violation in DSMS catagory? -
-
just know what my friend told me he got ticketed and put out of service for without an inspection, just setting on a scale.
No real order to it, maybe how they write it up. -

Click on sms methodology, then it's the first document. Download it and go to page 96. -
So you get 30 points for driving ill or sleepy? Best not be coughing while getting an inspection.
And only 21 points for falsifing your log book. -
One major problem is lots of leos don't know the rules but write you up anyway, thinking they are right. Then you have to fight to get the violation off if they were wrong. Lets go back to the cat and mouse days when sometimes they won, but sometimes they let you win even if your actually wrong. I'd give anything to have some of that mutual respect back that truckers and cops used to have for each other. Cops won't hardly even wave and act friendly anymore.
