I have been doing my research on company training for awhile ,one of my top choices would be prime ,and I had noticed on there driver training requirements is to have a valid drivers licence for one year. Going to call a recruiter Monday and hopefully get a straight answer on it.

A lot of "semi-retired" people/couples are taking to the life of trucking. Unlike you, they tend to be under-employed and see it as a big money venture. Why not(?), all the advertising says it is very lucrative....
    1. Wal Mart advertises first year drivers earn an average of 82k the first year.
    2. Schneider is saying team drivers earn over 70k each the first year.

It can be an adventure, it can be fun...every profession/vocation has it's ups and downs....the trick is to know what the difference between reality and a recruiters exaggeration is!

Doug, I think the lack of respect for truck drivers is nothing less than ignorance. I fell under that cloud until I found this site and really grasped the fact that everything in my house came from a truck driver.

To say that was eye opening would be an understatement.

I remember a guy a few months ago that had been without a license a long time and Earl Henderson Trucking took him.
If Prime doesn't take you; get back on here and we can give you a dozen or so companies that may give you a chance.

Definitely be very careful to choose the right company for you. A lot of guys wash out of this job within a year because a sorry company put a bad taste in their mouths; a decent company, on the other hand, might not do the things that will make you hate trucking.

I definitely understand that, and don't want to set myself up for failure right out the door with a bad company .
