I live in NY state. The rules in your state may vary.Your vehicle's gvwr will be under 26,000 lb's.It's a simple daycab.I assume a twin screw.I will guess it's weight at 12,500 lb's.Don't confuse gvwr with register'ed weight. To transport the vehicle, you need to register the tractor at it's unladen weight and provide proof of insurance.Do make clear to DMV that this is temporary transport and temporary registration. Also notify your insurance carrier that you need only insurance for the tractor for 1 to 2 days for transport. As far as air brake endorsement, there is none,it is not an endorsement. It is just part of your test when applying for your class A or B CDL.The law used to state that you would need at most a non-cdl-C license. In NY it has changed back to a D license.A basic auto license. Now once you get your tractor back to the yard and ready to hook up to a trailer and start hauling, you will need to upgrade your license to CDL A, register the tractor and trailer to the combined weight that you wish to haul under and upgrade your insurance to reflect the new weight and issues to what you intend to haul.Again, it's about weight. You are not engaged in interstate commerce or instrastate commerce at this time so don't worry about getting the tractor home.Your legal.Hope this helps.
