Your citizenship should be a non-issue. As long as you can present 10 years of verifiable history (and verifiable is very flexible) you should have no issues. The only thing you'll run into is the requirement by many companies that you have a 160-hour course as a new driver. You can get around that by driving local for a year or working for one of the training companies like Wil-Trans, Swift, Knight, etc.

    Thanks, Jubal3,
Yeah, I was never concerned about my status, I know I can get a CDL. I was just wondering how challenging it would be to get a local position with my limited driving experience in the States - particularly from an insurance point of view. meaning, would it be more expensive for a trucking company to "insure" me and hence shying away from hiring me, Fortunately, my record (1year & 6 months) is 100 perfect. No points , nothing! I am thining about going to Vincennens University to get my CDL, it is a 240 hour program (6-weeks). Thanks so much for taking the time to respond, I appreciate it.
