So I am currently in trucking school and took out a loan for it, but I did lie about my employment history. I know I probably should have tried to explain during the interview with the trucking school but I didn't and what was done was done.
I don't have a criminal record but I do have a bunch of jobs that I didn't care much for and don't exactly remember from when I worked to when I quit.
What are the chances that I might not get hired with one of the big carriers?
I job hopped, don't exactly remember the dates, I wasn't entirely honest when I probably should have been but that was the choice I made.
I am not too worried about the drug test, the non existent felonies, my license, but the spotty work history and the fact that I wasn't entirely honest.

Depending on when you finally change your ways--your spotty integrity with your spotty work history may later put you on the spot with an employer--and thus...get you fired...perhaps even on the spot.
Thus--don't give trucking carriers a chance to spot you doing that...in the future.

I know I was wrong and I know I probably shouldn't have been dishonest, but that's the choice I made and now it seems like it might come back full circle.
I really don't know the exact dates when I was and wasn't working so I gave approximations. Now those approximations might not line up. -
What’s the context? The trucking school isn’t an employer, so they can’t ‘fire’ you. Is the school a sort of recruiting agency/school hybrid where your application is passed along to carriers? No carrier can run a background check without your consent, so if you had a change of heart, you’re not doomed.
Just be honest about any job history as an adult. If you’re young, exclude any high school jobs and just put ‘in school’ to fill that gap to clean up your work history a little.
My employment history is embarrassing, but I haven’t been ‘doomed’ because of it... so farAamcotrans, Rideandrepair and Blagoje Thank this. -
Yeah, it is one of those schools that have a partnership with a carrier.
The online application had one set of dates, in the in person interview with the school I gave another, I would be giving another given that I don't exactly remember the exact dates when I worked the jobs I have had. I am early 20s, below 25 but still.
I quit jobs left and right, not a good look.
I am not proud about the fact that I couldn't hold a job for longer than 3 months at all.
After I am done with the schooling, I should be pipelined to orientation, if all goes well.
The job history might be the one thing that does me in. -
Most companies only look back 3 years on job history for new cdl school grads. Some look back further, but that's not a requirement.
Current cdl holders that have driven before, companies look back 10 years.
Will you be under contract with a company at graduation? -
I believe I am pre hired so although I am not entirely sure as to whether I would have a contract with them, it seems as if I would be headed in that direction since the school has a partnership with that company. So although the school operates as an entity separate to the company, the school acts as a gateway recruitment center to that company.Chinatown Thanks this.
