My new venture is up and running. Life after Roehl is going well so far. As with any new business I am in the hole starting out but by staying running and healthy I'll dig out pretty quickly. There is money to be made starting your own company hauling new trucks from inbound US ports to dealerships and I'm giving it my best shot.

The Lord has really blessed me! In many ways this is a dream come true. I have my own business. I'm the boss. The accountant. The dispatcher! The driver!

Its a tremendous amount of physical work along with the mental accounting skill. I've already lost weight just from the exercise unsaddling the trucks and preparing them in searing Laredo heat.

The first customer run was Freightliners from Laredo to Wisconsin. Having driven for Roehl, this was a perfect startup run as I know the whole route. When delivered its back on a plane to a port and do it all again.

OBTW-I just named myself "Driver Of The Year!"

    :)

I'm also CEO so I can do that.

I passed the physical and road test for Ozark today. The atmosphere here is so much more relaxed than it was at Roehl. Even though it is relaxed they don't put up with any bs. For example, if you get a ticket for no seat belt or following to close you can plan getting routed to a terminal and sent packing. It looks promising so far but we will see how it goes once I get into the truck.

I got my new ride today. A 2011 Cascadia with 300,000 on it. So the truck should be pretty much broken in. I still have some online training left to do tomorrow. I also got to get with one of the maintenance sups tomorrow to go over some of things about the truck. Hopefully I will get moving sometime tomorrow afternoon.

    Cheryl Thanks this.

What flavor of engineering? I was an Electrical/Computer/Software engineer for ~30 years before getting into trucking; got my degree from Wisconsin-Madison. Best wishes to you.

Should get into psychology and see if you can figure out how planners work.
