So, run legal unless it isn't convenient.
If you are a company driver demand that the company pay for your motel. If you are responsible, charge it to the customer.

How about you pay for it, since it's that important to you that I stop? Or perhaps the ATA would like to foot the bill, since they are the ones that forced this ridiculous contraption upon the industry.Farmerbob1, BoostedTeg, HalpinUout and 2 others Thank this.

There are no truck stops 10 minutes from home. Closest motel is a 30 minute drive.

Maybe, just maybe, your overbooked and can't do what you usually do legally.

Amazing how the fudge times ADMITTED TO are always 10 minutes, maybe sometimes 15 minutes. Give them 15 minutes, then the new complaint will be "only 1 hour away? I'm going". Give them an hour, then I can only wonder what the next increment will be. It's funny but the old adage "give them an inch they'll take a mile" comes to mind.

Oh, I'll admit to some that are more but for the most part it was only a short amount of time. I always tried to stay close to legal.

Or maybe, just maybe, shippers need to have the loads ready on time, and should require forklift drivers to be skilled at tetris so that they can stack the load on the trailer in a timely manner. I seldom have more than 8-9 hours of driving in a day, so if I'm pushing the 14 or 16 hour limit, it isn't an "overbooking" problem.Farmerbob1 and Moosetek13 Thank this.

In the other elog thread a driver bragged about working a 24 hour day.
There has to be rulespeterd Thanks this. -
You'll just have to plan better will be the response to that.
