Life Predicament and Lost

Hey, (tldr on bottom)

I’m in a predicament. I’m debating between a few options , but before that, here’s a little about me.

My parents are moving and I have to find a place to live. I don’t have a car(since s few weeke ago, but i fan drive), no friends in the US I can crash with(one friend in Canada is willing to let me hang with her for a couple months),no credit, and $1,600 in my bank account. I receive $1000 from the state a month.

I’m not sure what the right move is.

1) Visit my friend for 2 ish months, and study for the permit, have about 4k when I Grayhound back to Illinois, then either:

A) Rent a room of Craigslist for 600-800 a month prob $1500 ish up front. Leaving me with about 2k left, then maybe I’d be able to find some used car to get me to and from CDL school(which the state would pay for)

or

B) Rent a room frim craigslist and sign up to Prime, Rohl, swift etc CDL school asap.

Or

2) Rent a room NOW and Go to Prime Swift etc CDL school once i pass my permit/feel confident in my knowledge.

Thing is im in a real bad headspace right now, bad environment, have trouble thinking, have schizophrenia(it’s controlled I’ve had it for a long time, and im stable, and it’s not a disqualifier so before you try to put your old judgmental opinion on here trying to discourage me, dont, this is what I want to do). My friend id visit would get attached and cry when I leave, and I dont want to lead her on…but I’ve been a selfless person all my life, so maybe i should think about myself for once?

I’ve heard a lot of negative about Prime, etc. and a lot of positives about private schools,

- Is it even possible to get a car for 2-4k?
- what would you do in my situation?

Situation (TL;DR)

You’ve got $1,600 now + $1,000/mo income

No car, no US support system, no credit

State will cover CDL school

Friend in Canada is offering support for a couple months

Mental health: Schizophrenia — stable, controlled, and you’re clear-minded on your goal

Environment now is toxic, and it’s messing with your headspace

You don’t want to hurt your friend, but you know you need clarity and space to grow

If I were your age and then your exact situation, I would find the cheapest place I could live, perhaps a roommate type rental situation and then I would get a job within walking distance and then a second job and I would work two shifts every day seven days a week. I would have the least amount of bills as possible, and I would save my money for about a year. Then you can think about going to CDL school. if you get halfway into this trucking scenario and you fail or you don’t finish or you don’t pass then you’re in a really tough situation. You need to save up a few bucks first. Have something to fall back on.

Man thing is I might be getting in over my head hah. I do have hallucinations daily, I see black shadows like ghosts basically, and hear voices haha. It’s funny you bring up Catalonia, as that’s what I have, although haven’t had an “episode” in like almost two years.

Man it’s just like my Dads a trucker and I once drove a cab and he’s like, if you driving so much why don’t you get a CDL, and recently I “ran away” in my car, and drove, and did the math and the money seems amazing..

I want to have like a normal life, meet a girl and hang, go out and that’s one important thing that I would sacrifice.
You said if I cause an accident I’m ####ed financially and I’d lose the job, and ####in that’s worrying af as I’m scared I won’t be able to learn how to drive.
Man…like thing is, I could like go to Canada for two months and train and get back into shape (I used to lift everyday, but I’m a ##### now) and get a job as like a kitchen and bathroom remodeling helper, or framing helper, or wooden floors, or pretty much anything you can associate with polish people and construction…. I could prob get paid $20 an hour under the table, plus my SSDI…totaling to $1250 a week, net.

I’d have a crib, could go out, party, concerts, etc. idk bro it’s like, I honestly keep hearing like negative things and I know it’s true, but it’s like appealing too, ehh idk man.

also before you go running out of country or get ANY KIND of job make sure it won’t affect your SSDI, pretty sure getting ANY TYPE of job will stop that SSDI

He'll lose his state disability benefits and monthly disability pay from the state if he gets a job. He'd have to work for cash to keep the state from knowing he has jobs.

I just talked to this guy James giving me a ride to the greyhound. I told him a little about what’s on, he had drive trucks, although not semis and said right now the most important thing is money.

he said if I go to CR England and fail the test I have to pay them back. This makes me think about the private school route, but can I get a job with no experience? I can right?
