That's what I figured fortycalglock, just wanted to be sure. I see a lift axle as better all the way around, over just a dump valve.

You still need the dump valve with the spread so as not to drag the rear tire's as bad when you turn loaded.
You can't compare one to the other as each one serves a different purpose.SheepDog Thanks this. -
Do all spreads come from factory with dump valve? I guess I could just add a dump valve for now and later add the lift kit, to the same axle, or would a dump on rear and lift on front be better? I think I just confused myself...

I don't know if they all come with them or not. A dump valve is pretty easy to install. Most all dump valves are on the rear axle but I have heard of some trailers having them on both axles.

A real lift or tag axle comes with coil springs that always keep the axle suspended. The suspension bags then need air pressure to lower it and support the load and have an adjustable valve for the air pressure.
The bags you add on a regular axle are a lift kit. Not To be confused with pickup truck lift kits which just add height to the suspension or body.SheepDog Thanks this. -
I have a rough country 4" lift kit for my 1990 F150 4x4,,,will that work?
