Lifting bobtail with bottle jack

    That's sort of like saying you dont need to torque lug nuts because nobody ever does it. The reason they don't do that is because of time. They bang out work quickly to make the most they can on everything. Most big commercial tire shops do have the removable centering sleeves and can center them if you ask.

    There's a lot of play between the hub and the wheel. You're nuts if you think that hub is really centering anything. It's probably about .020 of gap in there. I use sleeves to center mine and there is even a little tolerance with those. It's probably nit picky and no you don't really have to get the wheel centered perfectly. But me being the driver and that being my truck I do everything possible to make it ride smoothly.

    Re: bottle jack. 10 ton is more than enough. A 10 ton bottle jack will lift the whole tractor. It'll do any one wheel set on a truck/trailer combo that is grossing 80,000 no problem. Just use common sense to determine where to place it.
