You could use your emergency flashers, we would know and appreciate what you mean..

 

What is more polite is gradually slow just enough to get them to go back around you, and be sure to show your full appreciation when there window to window with your q-beam spot lamp. Be sure to smile and wave so they know your being polite, and never stoop..... thats just silly.

 

I watched two truckers ahead of me on interstate 81 deal with a drunk 4 wheeler last night.

As the first truck passed the drunk, he gave a running light flash signal that was longer, more off-on's than I'd ever seen, and the truck between me and the one signalling answered with as long a sequence. Only when it was my turn to pass the weaving 4 wheeler did I understand why they were signalling. But what was the signal? Morse code? Some standard thing for that situation?
