I'm trying to get into the Swift (Millington, Tn) academy as well. I see you to are coming out of Ga also, so as a heads up you have to get your DOT physical done and also get your permit before you go. The physical has to be done through an authorized doctor office, which in metro Atlanta is Concentra.

so, after the academy in Phoenix will I be coming to SLC to do the test here or do I take the test there? I am a SLC resident... do you know?
-
Quick question, are you required to get you DOT Physical test at my state or do it when I get to the school in Millington. Recruiter told me you cant come in without a permit.
-
I'm not sure how Fl works but here in Ga you have to have your DOT card before you can take even the permit test.
-
Florida dont require you to. Going with a permit is better because less time on studying and going to the DMV when you can be working more in the yard and in the classroom. You also have a more chance of passing.

If u don't mind answering. How much do u net In a week?
-
who are you asking ? There are roughly 16,000 Swift drivers and I would venture a guess and say 15,990 have a different net each week. Owner ops, lease ops, company OTR, dedicated company, regional company, dedicated o/o or l/o, they are all different, let alone different pay scales, east coast or west coast? Hell even flatbed and van is different! LOL, its a mind boggling thing!

it hasnt come in the mail yet and has been 2 weeks now and i think im goin to orientation sometime next week -
Hello from southern TX.
My son goes to orientation ( Hopefully ) at the end of the month , Plan ? after class's , drive a CO truck for a month, and then start a lease .That is when I go to work for him and we go team ( pray for us and we will 4 u ) LoL . Question ? your dead headed to pick up trailer , getting there you find the trailer is in bad shape ? flat/door /holes .That would take * Time * to fix to be able to go with you, Has it happened to you ?.. GOD Bless .. kg4cnc (Ham )

Hey Skip - I hope things go as you and your son have planned. It sounds like fun!
In the scenario you described, there are a couple of options that you may have. You may be able to get that trailer fixed on the spot (depending on what the problem is) or you can dead head to another location to find a different trailer. The best option will depend on what is wrong with the first trailer, what part of the country you are in, and what day of the week it is (some customers are closed on the weekend). I think all of us have been sent to grab a loaded or empty trailer, and when we arrived we found that it was not ready to roll. It is very frustrating, but it is just one of those things you gotta deal with.
