I have a circa. 2008 Cobra 29 WX NW ST that worked fine in the 2007 Columbia with 4' Firestick drivers side mirror mounted using a custom made 18' coax from a
cb shop around Indianapolis and Road King 56 mic. He beefed up the unit an said I had a 25 w carrier signal. All worked great till 2010, when I got off the road. I'm headed out again in my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500. I didn't want to drill holes in the truck and didn't know what mount to use for the Firestick, so I bought the Wilson Lil Wil magnet mount with 38 inch stick. I calibrated radio on 20, found open space and SWR on ch 1 was 1.0 and ch 40 was 3.0 with stick at bottom of mount. I took the whip out and bench ground small amounts off and re-calibrated on 20 and tested SWR on 1 and 40. I got 40 down to around 2.0, ground more, and now 40 is at 1.0, and ch1 barely moves. YES I RE-CALIBRATED EACH TEST. I have heard "That is "Great". Where I live there is no traffic/chatter. Nearest Interstate is 40 miles away.
AM I READY TO HIT THE ROAD? Also, any suggestions re: CB install and repair around I-75 Fort Myers and north?

Sounds like a start. A Wil isn’t very tall (taller simply better), but I’ve heard good setups with it in past.

An external speaker is a help. UNIDEN BC-20 best truck stop choice.

Can’t help on Shop over there. Look for white list & good cb Shop threads.
