I have checked it with a swr meter with the amp both on and off and it's been below 1.5 that's why I asked if its normal that it comes on only when the amp is on. There are no cb shops in my area unfortunately that's why I'm asking so many questions here lol.

I'm a ham operator, I've never been able to do that above 20 meters (14 MHZ) and it's even hard that low. 40 meters (7 MHZ) works well all night and day long. 40 meters is probably what most hams prefer.
All radio literature that I've read also says the same thing.
If you are getting skip during the night, above 20 meters (14MHZ), you've got something good going there.
You should get a video of it, showing that it's dark outside, and put it on youtube. You'll get tons of hits. You'll also get tons of hams saying it's impossible. But who cares what they say. Make sure you sign up in such a way that you get paid for all the views you have on that video. -
Will turning up vr4 modulation pot help me out at all? Just watched a couple YouTube vids of people doing it to their cobra 29 lx.

I don't know. JesseJamesDallas sounds like he's a lot more technical than me. Hopefully he'll respond with an answer.
You could also buy this book:

Jump over the counter of most of these cb repair shops and you'll probably see a copy of the C.B. repair manual :
The Screwdriver Experts Guide to CB repair and Modifications.

Or find a cb radio forum and ask around. -
Don't mess with your radio unless you really know what you are doing is my advice, but it's yours so do whatever you want. The extra power coming out of the amp when it is on can cause all kinds of weird things to happen. If your SWR is O.K. with the amp in line when it is off, it will be fine when it is on, in my opinion. I wouldn't worry about it. I've seen that happen many times.

VR4 is just your modulation adjustment pod, all that will do is max-out your modulation making you sound a little louder, but at the same time can cause you to sound garbled up or splatter. Not really pessary to max out when running a Amp, because it can make you sound over-modulated.
What you may try is lowering your DK. Your Cobra 29LX probably has a 3 - 3 1/2 watt DK from the factory, so if you can get it down to 2w's, that will probably take care of your warning light issue, plus it will be easier on the Amp not driving it so hard. -
Ok how can I do that with my cobra 29 lx? Is there a pot I can adjust I have a swr/watt meter ifu knew what pot to adjust. Like I have stated before there's no cb shop on my area so if I could do it that would be great not really wanting to have to send it away if I don't have to.

On some radios there's a pod you can adjust to lower the DK, but I think on all the Cobra's you have to install a resister...I could be wrong on the 29lx, but I think that's still the case with them too...You might be able to find more info on this if you look on cbtricks.com ... Or you can join their Forum and in the "Cobra section" look and see if anyone else has asked this question, or make a new post and see what the experts say! http://www.cbtricks.com/forum/index.phpmike5511 Thanks this.
