If you want good home time, then go for it; sounds good.
If you find out it's not what you want, then change jobs later.

Hey get your experience. Stay safe and accident free. Then if it's not a good enough company. You can move up. I'm LTL Linehaul myself. NEMF is over here in the northwest.
-
Oops not over here in the Northwest.
-
i had a brief stint w/ NEMF,id pass on them,unless you need the exp.try Estes,ODFL,ABF....
-
What was your impression with them while you were there?
-
Good people,###### comp.(Btw way im a former 31B).They offer you as a driver pretty much nothing, alot of sitting around waiting for trailer dep on the location.Horrible equiptment.41 cpm its very low for LTL.You do get delay time after 45 min, maybe an hour, but they do have delay time.2 cpm more per mile for pulling a set, rarely happens though.Union is a joke,International aerospace and machinists union.Has nothing to do w/ trucking, old out dated SOP,some terminals look like they should be condemned, but thats all LTL,lol. You will get 500 miles a night on LH for the most part. You will be home every night.Equiptment is horrible, did i say that.Mechs are cool for the most part.Youll probally start at 2100 and get out of the term at 2200-2230(well the term iworked at,YMMV)I wouldnt call them a bottom feeder, but they arent a top LTL carrier.I would try other LTL carriers even if they say they want 2 yrs exp.Go there in person w/ a copy of your DMV abstract and talk to the term manager. You could call 1st and set an appt, but id just go early before the caos starts for the day.Companies are desperate for drivers, the LTL turnover rate is about 7%,OTR is close to 100%.YOU DONT HAVE TO GO OTR TO GET A LOCAL JOB.Look into Estes(52.cpm to start),Old Dominion Freight Lines,ABF,Saia,YRC Group ect.NEMF should be a last resort,i lasted there 5 months then ran like heck, lol.

Thanks for all the advice.
I have zero OTR experience. I would like to be home every night. But I understand if thats not possible because I need 1 year OTR that's fine, I'll tough it out. That is why I am seriously considering TMC, home weekends vs once a month.
Anyway I might have a shot at a NEMF job. .41 cpm 500 miles a night, sleep in my own bed...yea...to me those are good trade offs.
But if you say there is a chance a new driver can get into another LTL right out of school, then I am game on knocking on a few doors too.
I'll look into estes.....didn't know they started at .51, that's a decent jump from .41.
And yea I've seen NEMF trucks, they look just like my school trucks!!!! Maybe more duct tape holding them together though!!!!!mpow66m Thanks this.
