Link is still treating me good. My DM is still a good guy, gets me good miles and treats me well. He's really good about helping me out when I need it, and on tight loads, is a great liaison between me and the planners. A model DM, I suppose. If all were like him, I think a lot of drivers would be much happier. Probably why he trains other DMs. No complaints with the other folks I deal with at the terminal or on the phone yet.

My issue is with so many broke-##### trailers. I don't think I've had a trailer all week that would pass a DOT inspection without me spending some time under it. Broken electrical lines, missing/broken lights. How hard is it when someone drops a trailer with defects to call up breakdown and say "I just dropped trailer xxxx at xyz factory in BF, Texas and it has 4 bald tires?"

At least at that point the blame falls to Link and not the last guy to drop it.

I see their score is dipping again due to equipment violations. I guess those 15 new trucks didn't help much.

I noticed that they stopped doing inspections at the Ft. Worth terminal.

Rumor amongst techs are they appear to be going through another transition, same as they did with first one. I got a new benefit package, odd since I'm no longer employed there, and a lot of their coverages were dropped and prices went up. Ouch! They have the potential, but suddenly seem to care less. I still talk to a few drivers there and they are looking, hard, but afraid to leave since everyone that has quit has gotten a mark on the DAC. They love that quit under dispatch when you turn your notice in and they tell you to pack your bags. Excuse, you put notice in while under load. That's what they told my attorney who quickly had it reversed.

They quit doing inspections in Lakeland awhile ago. They set the lane up for it, but I've only been inspected once. All the other times I was told they were too short staffed. I can see why when they pay a 5 year mid-level (Journeyman) tech $11/hr when that tech can go to either corner from the shop and make $17 minimum. I make $16.23 plus 45% labor on flat rate, which is averaging to just under $24/hr plus benefits, uniforms, etc and I'm a 3rd year Apprentice at a shop only 4 miles away. With jobs like mine being in the area, why would you want to work at Link and get trashed on as a tech? I wouldn't. I just wish I found my current shop sooner, bit sometimes you have to work the junk jobs to get the good ones.

Of course I'm speaking on a tech level and not a driver. As a driver, I wouldn't go back and I made .42/mile there because I was hired as a tech, filling in as a driver, but they refused to move me to the shop where I was supposed to go. They figured the higher pay covered me checking all the trailers out at all the yards. I don't miss doing those trailer reports at every stop I did.

Thanks to Link I got the job I have and I'm way happier. It took the misery of Link for me to appreciate being a tech even more and reminded me why I got off the road the first time. Just now I'm staying off of it. I rather work long hours in the oil fields ripping my back up well before I go back out there. Good luck to you all still out there. It's rough and it isn't getting better by a long shot. Especially there at PST, oh wait, I meant Link. Sorry, flashbacks because both companies are so much alike...

Good luck to those still there, like Anj who hasn't said a word since I left, or Big Brah if he is even there, and the others, including racist but not racist Josh. He isn't racist, he just is a poor manager that let the power go to his head because of his young nature attitude and lack of experience.
