Had a hiccup yesterday. Got to P&G in Pineville, LA at about 4 am yesterday, supposed to be a preloaded trailer. Just left a couple hours ago. Getting paid $50 layover plus 18hrs detention ( got that in writing). Hauling arse to Temple, TX

Deadheaded to Dallas this afternoon for Zephyrhills, FL. Drop & hooked at shipper. Load is a whopping 1700 lbs. Deliver Sunday and pickup the same place for Monroe, GA that can deliver anytime Monday. So 1600+ miles by Monday evening.

Thanks for info. Here is how mine went. Left orientation with load to Cape Coral and then Ft Meyers. That took my 14 for the day for arrival at Cape Coral. I. Morning was finished with stop 1. Delievered second stop and sent for reload in Ft Meyers. Was given directions to customer which led me into residential neighborhood staring at a hospital. Customer said that is shortcut they take to work. Finally loaded with loose paper for Dublin, GA. Arrive yesterday early afternoon for Dublin, GA and wait about an hour for platform to clear for my turn. I back up, do all the needed, watch truck get to about 60 degrees when I hear a loud metal bang followed by a loud squeel, then operator running from shack. Apparently customer put a plate of metal in truck to get higher weight for more money. This took out motor operating belt. I'm told next Tuesday before trailer is unloaded. So I call and say hey, was told to find empty and leave. No empties. I am sent to pickup this empty from local shop and in turn miss my appointment. So planned on different load for Sunday. Getting a restart to drop/hook in Covington, GA for Ft Pierce, FL whenever I get there. Planned for West Palm as soon as arrive for Birmingham, AL as soon as arrive. All drop/hook. Not a great start, but I have time to set truck up, have fresh hours since orientation burned up half the week, and starting a good week to get some miles before going home for next weekend.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Guys I will be going to orientation tomorrow and based on the info I read here it seems this is an ok company. Do any of you have health insurance that can share information on as far which one is it and if is expensive?

I know this much. It's United Healthcare and orientation will tell you by the time you're eligible, it might be different. They are changing the benefits package around right now. Whatever recruiting told you on the pay, it will not be the same on your first check. Pay increases March 25th. I got a call from the VP of Operations to welcome me, confirmed what recruiting said, told me my new pay scale for March 25th, and gave me his direct line if I had issues. Expect the same if it hasn't happened already. Be ready for a backing test if you're an ex flatbedder. Everyone that was flatbedding had to do one. If you never done e logs before, expect that whole new experience as well.

Where are you doing orientation? Ft Worth will be in a brand new building next week for theirs since they just setup that new headquarters. Mine was in Lakeland. Orientation is on a video feed so everyone has same exact info. Lunch was pizza first day, pasta second, and pizza third. Be ready to buy your own dinner or take left overs. I have friends 10 miles away so I hung out with them and ate pretty good. Not everyone is that lucky.

Take some cash with you. You will get $100 on first dispatch and no advances for a week and half. Kind of hard to do with company expenses of tolls on FL turnpike and scales. Just be prepared for just in case...

When assigned a truck and you don't like it, say so and they'll give you option of another. I took my wreck because it's slotted for trade and first dibs on new truck if I keep performance up. It's not pretty, but it was clean and safe. New tires, brakes, A/C, oil, etc. They will tell you there are still bumps because they are transitioning still. I'm patient and watching.

Before you quit, ops manager will tell you specifically to call him and discuss. They are willing to try and fix the issue and can't fix if you just quit. All staff is new. It will seem like a nee company with old name as you talk to everyone. There us room to move into office. I was already offered a shop position once freeze is lifted for them. They are restaffing shop so it csn be 24/7 and giving pay raises there, too.

Everyone is excited in the office, but I'm like most drivers. I'm sitting back and watching.

Oh, I only been here a week and already got a call last night asking how my first week went and if I had questions or concerns. Was also asked if I can see anything they need to improve on. That was from VP of operations.

Thanks a lot to both of you, yes I am an ex flatbedding. as far as the pay increase was not inform anything by recruting so I hope that the pay rate I was given is going to be better. My orientation will be in Lakeland Fl and since I live only 30 miles from the terminal I will travel back and foward for those days.
As far as the backing goes are there any procedure if one dont do too well? I do like the fact of a company knowing why will someone quits, I like to give a chance and go trhough proper channels if it comes to that bcs all problems can be solve one way or another is also how a driver goes about it. I will be carrying the health insurance for me and my wife so I wanted to know if what a driver earns is enough to bear the cost.

    The Challenger Thanks this.
